Recent Events:

January 2012

January was an exciting month. I participated in my first CPEDI3* international show, the Wellington Classic Sunshine Challenge. This show was held in conjunction with the World Dressage Masters, at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center, in Wellington, Florida. This was an amazing experience and very challenging. The challenge came because due the cost, I could not take my horse Chip. Therefore, I had to catch ride a horse I had never ridden before.

By the time all the arrangements came together, I had only 5 hours of training on my horse. Considing this, my trainer in Florida, Laura Rique, and I had to work very hard to bring everything together. All in all it was a wonderful show and a great learning experience. I am looking forward to my next CPEDI3* in California, in March.

Upcoming Events:

Currently, my team and I are busy working on fundraising opportunities. Fund raising is a very important part of a para-equestrian's job. In the US there is no funding availalbe through government sources like there is in other countries. Our major competitors have support from their governments. So all para-equestrian must raise all the monies necessary for training, equipment, travel, and other expenses. This is a big job. So if you would like to help please click on the donate link. Any amout is greatly appreicate.

jojoIn August of 2009, frustrated by socks slipping down, not staying put, and forming holes, Joanna Godwin, known around her "horsey" friends as "JoJo," set out to design the perfect riding sock. Using materials from RECYCLED water bottles, she began working with a manufacturer right here in the USA to create size-specific, performance socks designed specifically for riding boots. She gave some to friends, and after a few months, more and more people were asking for JoJo's Socks.  JoJo packed the trunk of her car with her socks and hit the road.

After that, JoJoSox began to pop up in tack stores around the country and eventually on the feet of top riders.  Selena O'Hanlon, a silver medalist at WEG 2010 in Eventing, and Elissa Dauberman, holder of 28 national equestrian championships, swear by them.  Once you wear them, we hope you, too, will agree with Elissa Dauberman who told us,  "They're the best socks I've ever had. The only ones that don't rub."  Cheers to riding in great socks!

bactrack

By combining modern textile technology and traditional Chinese medicine which is supported by scientific studies, Back on Track creates products that help people, horses and dogs. Do you also want the opportunity to achieve a more active and comfortable life?

Back on Tracks joint- and muscle support are manufactured from a functional textile in which ceramic particles are fused into the polyester- and polypropylene fibres. When the ceramic particles are warmed by body heat they reflect long-wave heat radiation, and what is called "long-wave infrared radiation", which effectively stimulates blood circulation in the tissue underneath the textile. We at Team Paraquest would like to send out a big thank you to Patrick and Diane Truxillo. They are the wonderful owners who generously donated Sydney the use of their amazing Knabstrupper stallion Pegasus Von Niehaus-Hof (fondly known as Peg) for the Debbie McDonald Clinic following the Dressage Affaire in Del Mar California. It was an amazing testament to the wonderful temperament one can find in a well bred, cared for, and trained stallion! Sydney learned so much from this amazing guy and turned some heads while doing it too! We hope to get to visit him whenever we are in Southern California. Take few minutes and visit their web site http://www.baroque-n-dreams.com/

Team Paraquest would like to extend a huge thank you to Rebecca Cook the trainer at B and B Training Stables in Menifee California, owned by Allyson Gagon. She generously donated her time and energy during the Dressage Affaire and following clinic to help warm-up, tack, and care for Pegasus. Her training and work with Pegasus has made one very amazing stallion, and helped Sydney have a once in a lifetime experience! We can't wait to visit her when we are back in SoCal!!
